[Boatanchors] Here is a great tip for REFORMERS!!!

You guys who think reforming caps is a great idea will love my following
tip! This is just for you.

As you all know many resistors go out of tolerance and move up in value over
time. Moisture enters old resistors over time. (Especially the IRC ones
with mold seams along their length which Johnson used a lot). New 1/2 watt
resistors cost around 1 1/2 cents today in small quantities. This is
outrageous as a rig might contain 20 to 30 of them! At these prices, you
would have to invest an outrageous 30 cents to 45 cents replacing all of
them. Why waste your money?

Instead of wasting this money, just remove the resistors from the radio and
place them on a cookie sheet and bake them for several hours in the XYL's
oven at a low temperature, say 225 degrees F. In many cases you will lower
their resistance to again put them within tolerance thus saving up to 45
cents on each restoration. You just re-solder them back in place within
their old circuit! Doing this during Winter months will not cost you energy
as the heat will slowly enter your wife's kitchen and help heat the adobe.
Now you can not only reform your capacitors but reform your resistors too!
(No charge for this tip).

It doesn't get better then this!

Keep GREEN !!! Peace! Hug your Boat Anchor. It might blow up tomorrow!
