I'm guessing the green dial glass is a later replacement, never saw one
before the RME-70 like that. Not that it wasn't done, there are numerous
examples of special builds, paint jobs, etc from RME, National, and others.
Perhaps someone just wanted to make their old 69 look more cool.
Not sure what the dials are made of, some type of phenolic or ? They
aren't white but more of a tan/buff color. I've never seen one that turned
brown like the SX-28 dials or similar, so my guess is that the makeup is
different.
It's pretty thin, perhaps only half the thickness of a typical dial or
S-meter face from the period which tend to be more stiff. I don't think
it's particularly brittle, just not as dense so easier to break. Warping is
probably as much of a risk. But it sure looks good from the outside!
Forgot to add previously - the Rola is indeed original to the speaker
enclosure.
