Phil:

This was a good beginner's receiver.  It was the basis for the subsequent
S-40 series, and the S-85, etc   (same chassis or similar circuit/ no 
xtal filter,
just a newer design cabinet-- Halligan's markenting expertise!)

So it depends on what you want to do with it.  If it is for serious 
operating it
will not fill the bill today.   For casual use or SWLing, OK
