David,
Absolutely. The 676 is a great mic. I've used one for years. Being dual impedance is especially handy when you run modern and boatanchor rigs and want to use the same mic. The 676 uses, supposedly, an improved Variable D cardiod system over the venerable 664.

Subject: [Boatanchors] EV Microphone
I picked up an Electo Voice 676 Dynamic Cardioid microphone at a flea
arket for $1 this morning. Is it useful as boat anchor microphone? It
ppears to be an older one as it is polished chrome rather than painted
nd the attenuation switch is a ring at the base rather than a slide switch.

Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever
reserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers,
etrayers, and destroyers press upon them so fast, that there is no resisting
fterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon the American constitution is
uch, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats
aster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners
rge for more revenue. The people grow less steady, spirited, and virtuous, the
eekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of
heir dependents and expectants, until virtue, integrity, public spirit,
implicity, and frugality, become the objects of ridicule and scorn, and vanity,
uxury, foppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the
hole society."
