Its an HRO, one of the great classic receiver designs.
One would have to see its insides to date it. There were
changes in the shape of the IF cans and early HRO's used
glass tubes in metal shields rather than the metal tubes
used beginning about 1940. There is a web site with photos
of the innards that will help but you will have to google it
to find out.
The HRO was the first "modern" receiver sold to hams and
was also used for commercial purposes. I am drawing a blank
on the first one but the year 1935 comes to mind. Beside
National do a Google search for James Millen, he was
primarily responsible for designing it.
A complete HRO should have the receiver itself, a power
supply, and a minimum of four plug-in coil sets. The RX came
with four but others were available as extra-cost
accessories. Even the oldest HRO's are still respectable
receivers.
