You guys can believe anything you want but .02 pf difference in interelectrode capacitance won't make a hill of beans difference when neutralizing the tube or tubes with a proper neutralization capacitor. As I said earlier, the designer of the tube, RCA, states you can interchange B tubes for earlier one. (They never said otherwise either). I have confirmed this many many times over and over when placing them in ham gear. As for the W version, most were made for the government and most were built to the B standard except for the very early ones produced. So the W type may or may not be a B design, but most likely it is. This hex put on B type tubes has alarmed way to many hams in my estimation. As I also said earlier, Collins changed the neutralization capacitor in the S line at about the same time they started using B tubes, but it was done for another reason. That is, the original one was inadequate in the first place. It just so happened to be relpaced about the time they started using B tubes. The original neutralization cap was a piece of crap and too marginal to ever have been used by Collins. Find out for yourself and try B tubes. Then tell me I don't know what I am talking about. The only time you are going to experience problems replacing originals with B types is if you have something else wrong in the rig in the first place.
