Check out this comparison test of penetrating oils. I have been using the ATF/acetone since my first read. YMMV

Before I came here I was confused about this subject. Having listened to your lecture I am still confused. But on a higher level.

I also have PB Blaster and agree about the odor but it seems to work. I think at least some of these products must contain a reducing agent; that is something that reverses oxidation, but I have no specific information. They may also have something in them to make them "wick".
