Hi,

I'm with Todd on that. I do appreciate having a clue as to what the
auction is about and a link is even better. Some of the pointers to
those auctions are for things that I am not really interested but I,
too, go and have a look at most radio related auctions. There are
pictures there that can be blown up and most of them show some pretty
good details. I have learned quite a bit about boat anchor radios that I
will probably never see up close that way. I have bid on a few (not the
$30K 6SN7s) and I even "won" a couple of them. As a side note - I don't
know if I can afford to keep my Ranger! <evil grin>

It is my understanding the former owner of the mailman.qth.net servers
was set against eBay. Well ya know...they were *HIS* servers and most of
us were using them for free. When in Rome and all that. Policies about
that on the list I subscribe to have relaxed since the new management as
the new owners don't have that same policy. Mostly it's not okay to
promote your own auctions on the lists and not okay to ask for auction
type bids direct from the lists. Those policies now vary from list to
list so it's good to ask. Some of the lists have a set of "rules" that
you can read on the server. Sometimes the "rules" are posted to the
lists, on other lists, not. So it is best to ask if you can't find them
on the server.

The new owners at qth dot net have more money invested in upgrades and
donations will help keep the improved service available. They also sell
web hosting services - I think. I have been thinking about information I
would like to publish on the internet and qth.net is on my *short* list
of paid providers.
