Dave, 
 Don't hate it  as you will miss out on all the good things of your life that come to fruition in later years.
 I work with a distinguishd gentleman by the name of Amarpal Khanna, an IEEE fellow. Around 25 years ago, when I first began working with Paul, as we call him, he commented to me, after I complained about aches and pains and "getting old",: "Geting old is a privledge. So many in this world never acheve it".
 His words have helped me "stay tuned" while faceing the realities and challenges of "ageing gracefully".
Think of it this way: working on old gear to make it "young" again makes us young again too  in spirit.
