Bill,

Yes, high-quality high-precision crystals were hermetically sealed to 
assure long life.  However, crystals may shift frequency a bit with age 
anyway.  So, breadboard your circuit and make sure you can pull it onto 
100.000 +/- Khz before you do a lot of building.
