I agree that the audio on the SP-200/400 radios is excellent compared to the SP-600. I've got two BC-779s, an SP-400 and an SP-600. The -400 is not significantly different than the -200 in performance. The design and construction are virtually identical to the -200. The principal difference between the -400 and -200 is the frequency bands, which were changed from the 5 octave bands of the -200 to 5 bands covering the .5 to 30 MHz range in the -400.

I have to agree with Todd. I use the SP-200 series a whole lot more than the
SP-600! At some point I'd love to try out a SP-400
