Please join us on Saturday August 11th for the Hallicrafters 40 meter Net.
It operates from 12:30 - 2:00 PM EST/EDT or 1630 - 1800 UTC.
The frequency is still 7.280 MHZ LSB +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
broadminded AM'ers!
Here is hoping to hear many of you tomorrow. Remember two weeks ago when the
band was awesome, that is until 12:31 PM EDT when it totally vanished!
Hopefully that will not be the case tomorrow.
This Bug Called Boat Anchor Fever
By Duane B. Fischer, W8DBF
I went to the ham fest with no plans of shopping,
I knew if I started, there would be no stopping.
No plastic or paper, just change in my pocket,
My wallet was sealed, I couldn't unlock it.
I wandered the aisles, resisting temptation,
The SX-100 was quite a creation.
A SX-115 all shiny and bright,
And a HT-32b with finals just right.
There's NOS tubes in boxes some really quite rare,
And a gleaming BC-610 needing a home to share.
New manuals, resistors, transformers and chokes,
Chuck Dachis new booklet on Hallicrafter's jokes!
I started to sweat, my bladder screamed full,
My reason was failing, my logic was dull.
I pushed past the people, I know I was rude,
My manners were failing, my words sharp and crude.
I rushed to the men's room and tore off my shoe,
I beat my poor wallet, I hate Crazy glue!
I slipped on some water and slid toward the sink,
My head missed the toilet, but I got a cold drink!
The wallet fell open, my money was free,
I crawled from the bathroom on wet hands and knees.
I got to a table and rose to my feet,
I grabbed that receiver, I would not be beat!
My money was dripping and had a strange smell,
The seller got angry and damned me to Hell.
I gave him my plastic, it jammed his machine,
He pulled out a night stick, and said something mean.
Before I could answer, a guard grabbed my coat,
And tried to recover my anchor of boat.
I gave him my money, all smelly and green,
And ran for the exit with boat anchor dream.
I got to the car with my muscles all spent,
The SX-42 was worth it, forget the rent!
I'm trapped by this lust, it's very restrictive,
This boat anchor fever is highly addictive.
Real radios glow bright when night filters in,
You will never be free once its under your skin!
If your wife lets you keep them, kiss and do thank her,
The Captain's First Mate beats any boat anchor!
