What really fries my toad is the asymmetry in
government-citizen
relationships.

If they collect sales tax from you as a vendor, by symmetry
you should be
entitled to deduct all the expenses allowed by law to a
vendor.

If you violate a law and get fined, equally if a
governmental body
violates a law the government agent who erred should pay a
fine to the
injured party.

For example, a cop can give you a ticket for something, and
you can take
it to court. However, if you prevail, you still lose because
you have
incurred expenses in proving your case. Effectively there is
no
accountability in government at any level.

Heads they win, tails you lose is unfair at the essence.

YMMV,

There is more than a drop of truth in this. In _theory_
one can recover by suing in civil court but the cost of a
suit and the time involved makes it actually impossible.
This can be fixed if people demand it. However, most
citizens are, to be blunt, to disheartened or too lazy to
find out how government works so that they can exercise the
power they have. In the USA WE ARE the government but a lot
of people have been convinced otherwise.
Enough politics, I am really no running for anything
(except maybe the hills).
