They tried that sales tax thingy at hamfests around here (Florida) a few years back. Basically they wanted to
know how much you sold and gave you a form to fill out to send in the money. Of course, its an honor system and I don't consider tax collectors honorable and cheating a crook is not a crime (to me). Myself, I'm crooked as a dog's hind leg. Since the collectors consider you in business, you can always deduct the setup fees, mileage to/from the
fest, meals, depreciation of the items,  etc. so with any luck (and a little expert accounting work) you should at least break even or maybe they'll owe you money.
     Just my $3.59 worth (2-cents worth, adjusted for inflation)
