[Boatanchors] 10M AM Frequencies

I don't think it's a question of should we or shouldn't we run AM lower on
10M. You can certainly run it anywhere it's legal as long as, as you
stated, you're not disrupting ongoing communications.

I think it's a question of where to look for AMers on 10M. My perspective
is that if I want to find AMers I look between 29.0 and 29.2. Even at the
peak of the last cycle, I just dropped below 29.0 if I couldn't find a place
between 29.0 and 29.2. Never had a problem. As I recall, VK2BA usually
held court around 28.9 on a regular basis. So, I don't think it's the same
situation as people crowding into too small a "window" as on 75M. The 10M
AM "window" is significantly larger.

I don't agree with your statement that the "voluntary "guidelines" for AM
are outdated. The guidlines are quite acceptable as long as we in the AM
community create and use them without external coercion. I'd rather find
fellow AMers at the local watering hole than have to listen across the
entire band -- as long as nobody is telling me I must use the watering hole.

When people start telling us that we can't use AM here or there, then it's
time to carry the AM flag anywhere it's legal just because we can.
Otherwise "Everything is permissible -- but not everything is
constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others". --
A good plan for implementing "Love thy Neighbor"
