Pretty true of any solder prices now
$40 per pound in small quantities for the quality goods.
I use a tiny dab of tinning flux to make even the grungiest stuff solder 
nice
Available in the DIY store plumbing section for less than a buck a tin.
Does a nice job keeping the plated iron tip clean and bright too
