I don't have the expertise of most in the group, but for what it's worth I
ditto Pauls opinion. If I make a contact with my ART-13 and tell the other
party what I am running I have had the reply" I can't believe how good an
ART-13 sounds with a carbon mike" At which point I tell them I am using a
amplified D-104. Not to say that other mikes wouldn't get a positive
response but for the price It works just fine for my needs.

My opinion--------

I've been using many D-104's for over 50 years now. Currently have one in
use for each main BA transmitter, KWS-1, Invader 2000, CE-200V, Johnson
Valiant, Collins ATC (Navy version of ART-13) in dynamic mode, KWM-2A, even
a DX-60 and DX-100. In all those 50 years I've never had anyone complain
about the quality of the mic audio, not once!!!

I'm not saying there aren't better mics and I'm not saying that in all those
years someone didn't think that maybe the mic audio could have been a tad
better, but it appears it was never bad enough for anyone to comment that it
wasn't adequate. I'm only saying that the D-104 seems to work fine for
communications quality work, and that's all I'm interested in. I'm not into
"AM Broadcast Quality", I have no fancy speech processing doo-dads etc, just
the mic running into the rig like it was intended.

Just my two cents which at todays value is worth nothing..................
