[Boatanchors] Horizontal Output Driver Transistor

I've been surfing the web getting ideas for my upcoming DX-100 rebuild. I
noticed a neat article by Norm, WB2SYQ regarding a solid state replacement
for the 4 watt driver pot which are hard to find these days. I guess it
could be used in Johnson equipment too. It consists of a small 1 meg pot, a
470K 2 watt resistor and a garden variety Horizontal Output Driver
Transistor. What is a garden variety Horizontal Output Driver Transistor?
You would think the article would give a transistor number or two, but it
does not. I realize this is a TV transistor, but I don't have a clue what
would work in such a circuit. I am guessing it is good for high voltage and
a fair amount of current.

Any TV technicians on here who could give me a real transistor number to be
used in the circuit I could maybe obtain from Mouser?

Thanks,
