For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, here is some verse to help you
get in the proper mood! Enjoy.

          Let Thanks Be Given

                                        By, Duane B. Fischer

As we progress through life with dreams,
Of stately Kings and sandbox schemes,
One thing comes true despite our will,
Real friends remain, when we have nil.

Thanksgiving bonds our hearts and souls.
Its not the turkey, squash or rolls!
False friends will come, false friends will blow
Like Autumn changes leaves to snow.

Behind remain Scotch Pines of green,
That point the way through snowy scenes.
Across this bridge, just down that hill,
The orchard path, the cider mill.

A knock on door, a greeting warm,
Friendships renewed, new bonds will form.
The smell of food, that pumpkin scent,
The trip was worth that gas you spent!

"Hi Grandma" hugs around the knees,
A shrieking cat your boot now flees!
A fireplace that glows with flame,
Above the din you hear your name.

The carving knife your hand receives,
And unsure friends the area leave!
A sudden silence fills the air,
As Grandpa says a Thanksgiving prayer.

Once noisy air, now quiet waits,
As forks and spoons pick clean the plates.
Dessert is served while belts release,
Then comes that burp that shatters peace!

The dog's eyes cross, feet up, he's dead,
A victim of that fruitcake bread!
Did Rover belch or something worse?
Just get a shovel, don't need a hearse!

The football game is off the air,
As snoring men lie stuffed in chairs.
The dishes done and breath mints served,
Tired ladies share thoughts reserved.

A sudden stench floats through the air,
A turkey fart has gassed a chair!
The men awake, while others hurl,
A diaper leak! Quick change this girl!

The fights begin as manners fail,
It's time to leave lest war prevail!
The kids are ornery, mean as sin,
Load up the car, seat belt them in.

A thanks to all, be back next year,
See some of you for Christmas cheer.
Thanksgiving's done, the house's a mess,
You love it so, you must confess!
