Guys,
I visited the QTH of a ham friend on Tuesday to pick up a 21 ft piece of pipe with 1/4 inch walls. It will probably support anything i'll ever put on it. But to the point. He is selling his property which is 40 acres of rolling high desert land SW of Tucson. It has several tall towers on it, i think 200 ft or so, one with a 4 el 40 meter beam and a 5 el 20 mtr beam on it, and the other with a multi element LP at close to 150 or so feet. Towers are Rohn and will not come down easily unless he gets a direct hit with a tornado which out there which would be an extremely remote chance. Also is a 160 meter dipole fed with open wire at 180 feet i think he said. There are also some smaller towers with 2 meter beams. Towers are several hundred feet from the shack which is a large and solid metal building, concrete floors and living quarters, septic and own water well. Tower mounted antennas are fed with high quality air pressurized heliax. I don't remember if it was 7/8 in or 1 7/8 inch. Lots of things that i don't even recall but it is an ideal location for someone wanting a large radio room, living quarters, garage and 3 position operating area. HB tuners, a GATES BC-1G broadcast transmitter and console for 160 is included. He did not use nor do low quality components when building the antenna systems. Oh yeah he also hass a large beverage that stretches a long ways E-W. 5 Kw generator (FS now) but will stay with location if not sold separately. Noise? What noise? $360K for all of it and that's a bargain.
WOW. My dream location with all the towers and stuff. Oh well...... If anyone is interested let me know and i'll connect you to the seller who is a ham who came from the NW Illinois area and was a telegrapher with the CNW railroad IIRC. very nice gentleman indeed.
