[Boatanchors] TCS tx Output

Its that sort of attitude I never could understand. The military fanatic is
in a huge minority compared to the total ham population and all can have
their toys. Yet, a few do nothing but make a lot of hot air trying to force
their minority view on others. Just go away and play with your toys.

Its the same stupidity that follows the Model A Ford where they are
relatively useless as built but you can travel cross country at Interstate
speeds with a modern drive line, juice brakes, 1935 16" Ford wire wheels and
radial tires. Others take it a lot further with the Rat Rod look but start
with a basket case that no collector would touch and give it an individual
touch.

And done right the resale value is higher than a similar all stock model.
There were so many A's built and the survivability rate is high so it will
never be rare.

The Model T is another example...my own is a stock appearing 26 T coupe body
with a supercharged flathead V-8, automatic transmission, late Ford rear
end, all on a modified Model A frame. Ive driven it up to 1200 miles many
times with never a problem....it cruises at 70-75.

99.9% of military gear requires some modification to be useable on the ham
bands.

If its still NIB then its worthy of being called a relic and preserved, but
not every war worn unit that comes along.

I have several regularly used WW2 radios from Command sets to an ATC/ART-13,
RAK/RAL, RBB/RBC, that are regularly used. They have enough modifications to
make them functional and enjoyable. Even the later R-388 and R-390A have a
few mods and if someone doesnt like it I tell them to mind their own
business.
