Sandy,

I can give you the tube line up for at least one then-popular 
transformerless Danish radio from that period.
I cannibalized it for its many useful parts, when there was too much that 
had to be replaced including tubes.
Those models are still common here at reasonable prices a.go. $40-$60. I do 
like the over-driven bass on
those sets, when listening to music. The unit was quite large; in the order 
of  20"H x 25"W x 15"D.

(My Euro friends will not like my use of inches! -- thumbs downs to that 
;0), pun intended, since an inch is
aprox. the length of the outermost thumb joint-- and the unit, here in DK, 
is actually called
 "en tomme" (26.1 mm)   -- etymologically related to English "timber" and 
German "Zimmer.")
