If copper oxide is what you are trying to clean off the coils, a warm 
solution of citric acid will do the job.  Squeeze some lemon or lime 
juice on a coil and see what happens.  Citric acid also has the benefit 
of passivating the surface to retard rapid reoxidation of the copper.
