[Boatanchors] Sniping (Was "GDO...")

To the point of live Auctions...Anyone that has ever been to one knows for
sure that there is always a shill in the audience or on the phone...
This is the reason that you never see reserves any longer. That shill will
get it were the auctioneer wants it but don't get caught LOL

It's funny how some folks see sniping as sneaky, dishonorable, or
whatever. Having attended many actual auctions over the years, I
learned quickly that it was best to get there early, do your homework,
then sit back and see where things go. If the auctioneer hit the point
of 'going once, going twice' and it was still within a range I was
willing to pay, I'd bid. Just as many times, bidding went beyond what
I wanted to pay and I didn't even need to raise my hand.

Seems a lot like card playing. Would you tip your hand and show your
cards to those playing to beat you?

Then again, I encouraged folks to snipe on my own auctions. The stuff
was put up to get rid of, not as a retirement account. Gaining the
space and having less 'stuff' was at worth as much or more than any
money brought in.
