Collins assembled (i.e. "built") radios from all sorts of parts manufactured by others.  Now they did manufacture mechanical filters and a few other parts.  But, the vast majority of parts were manufactured to Collins' specifications by other companies.

The entire IF deck is "theirs", and its 455KC.
 
I don't know how, where, or who.  The did what they did for these particular series of radios.
