[Boatanchors] OT: Ignorance :)) Yeah, sure

They may sell for inflated prices, but it is good stuff. In the Navy I worked with R-390A's, R-01051's and WRR-2's on the job. Off the job (at the ham shack) we had a 75S-3C. Certainly while not made as well as the other stuff, the receiver performance within its band coverage was damn near as good overall, and it was very reliable. And anyone with the requisite wrenches could tweak the RF alignment using just the built-in S-meter (and it was had to louse that up!). We used it not only for ham work but for phone patches via AF MARS back to the states from Greece. If I had the bucks I'd jump on a 75S-3 series in good shape. Have an R-388 that I am working on, anxious to see how it stacks up.

As for the Klipsch speakers, well that's mostly personal taste. We had a pair in the audio store I worked in back in the 70s. Personally I thought they were far too harsh but then I thought nearly all electrostatic tweeters were. But they were well made, and good furniture.

As a proud member of the CCA I should keep my mouth shut
but I think the folks who bought Collins to begin with were
the same ones who bought Klipsch Horns. OTOH, I keep
dreaming of someone having a pair of Gold Dust twins or good
S line stuff stored away in basement, garage, attic, or barn
who just love to get rid of it to anywone who will come with
a truck and strong back. I don't have either but can borrow
  both.
I would also like a restored 1928 Packard 12 Roadster
(or even another year close to that). Or even the
  straight-8.
