No, the RS-38 is a pre-war Navy design, almost as old as the T-17.  I never 
saw one with a PJ-068 plug.  The one that Bob may be talking about looks 
like a T-17 with a ventilated spacer between the microphone body and the black 
cover over the element.  I've only ever seen one, in very poor condition, 
and don't recall the nomenclature.  

The microphone that initially replaced the T-17 for ground use was the 
M-52/U.  But it is a flat design with the rectangular carbon element sticking 
out the left side.  Desn't look anything like a T-17.
