Subject: [Boatanchors] Racal RA17L for sale
Greetings,
This RA17L is a UK version S/N is somewhere in the mid to high 4000's.
Physical condition good with three minor issues. The antenna connector got
pushed at some point and broke the phenolic plate it was mounted to. Not
reallt
that big of a deal as many US users replace this connector with a SO-239
anyway. Second, the audio output terminal strip got cracked at one end at
the
mounting screws. Last, the Racal logo on the front panel is missing. It does
have the top cover. Electrically, the audio section is working along with
the
internal speaker, the calibrator is working and the radio hears that, the
1MHz
osc is working at the corect 2V level (measured on the output jack on the
back)
B+ looks good, the meter has movement, bandwidth switch functions when
listening
to the calibrator. The BFO "O's", KHz and MHz dials move smooth, . I do not
get any peaking signals as I should when I turn the MHz knob through each
1MHz
setting. All tubes(UK type) and shields are there. That is as far as I got.
I've gone to "The Racal Dark Side" with a solidstate RA6970 and want to sell
one
of my RA-17's to help offset the cost. Really prefer a quick local sale and
to
encourage this, I'll offer it to the first person to meet me in metro-west
Boston with $125 cash. Trades considered of equal value as long as they are
"working" (Not much fix it time with three kids around and out of school!)
Then
you can complete the project.
