I've got one that is a "Powerstat". It is made by Superior Electric Co.
Its dataplate says "Variable Autotransformer".
Type 1266-2P
Range V(olts) 0 - 270
its hard to see, but it is either 36 or 56A Max
The dial plate reads from 0 - 100 in increments of 1.
It is one with the large "steering wheel" for adjustment.
It is a 19" rack mount front panel.
All wiring from the terminal board to the terminals on the "Powerstat"
are #8 @ 600V.
It gets used to feed the BC-610 and the T-213. Those Beasts are
intended for 110VAC as built.
