[Boatanchors] Ham-Com in Plano, Texas

Ham-Com at Plano, TX was, in fact, a doubled up event that
included ARRL's annual national convention there as well.

As John said, it was a good hamfest. As a fleamarket filled
with ancient and decrepit junk, it warn't so good, I guess.

The main exhibit hall was full of commercial exhibitors and
I went through close to $600 buying neat stuff. Wife (KA5BJS)
and I had a great time. We have been going to a "Dallas hamfest"
in one or another of its many incarnations off and on since
1963 and this was surely to be rated in the TOP FIVE that we
have attended.

At most times, there were four or more seminars/presentations
going on simultaneously and we missed a couple that were on
at the same time for one that presented a higher interest.
In that vein, we did miss K2TQN's presentation for one of the
other many seminars. Sorry 'bout dat, John! Maybe another time.

Lee,

Someone lied to you. No hamfest would keep commercial vendors
out for any reason.

I'm in Texas now, having visited the hamfest on Friday and
Saturday and report that it was great! It was the best hamfest
I attended in a long time. The place was packed with vendors
and boatanchors were all over the fleamarket.

You missed a good one. Too bad you listened to lies.

I decided not to go to Ham Com this year in Plano, Texas. I heard a report
the ARRL booked the entire room where Commercial Venders used to set up
their displays. I was told the Commercial Vendors had to go elsewhere. I
am not sure where. Outside? In the halls? Can anyone on here tell me what
happened and where the Commercial Venders set up their booths?
