Each crystal vies you (in principle) two extra bands. Sum and difference
come to 3.5-4MHz.
So a 4.605MHz xtal would also provide coverage of 7.905MHz to 8.605MHz. Not
sure where
you would be hearing SSB unless were on a harmonic of the oscillator (or,
more likely, are
hearing the 80m band 'straight through').

The original crystal was perhaps added to provide BC band access?
