[Boatanchors] 120 vac Variac

 Checking my Variac as referenced above, I notice that my line voltage tonight 
is 

about 118 volts at the wall plug. My Variac  reads from 1 to 130 AC on the knob 
but only from 0 goes to 118 Vac. I hate to sound so ignorant, but should the 
Variac really put out 130 vac. at maximum  as the knob/dial indicates? In other 
words should the Genereral Radio model W20M BOOST the AC voltage up to 130 VAC 
even though the input voltage is a maximum of 118 VAC?? This is a 120 VAC Variac 

as opposee to a 240 VAC Variac, Your input will be appreciated.

I think I should acquire a 240 VAC Variac. Thanks for reading.  73, John, K5PGW
