[Boatanchors] Drake 2B

I think the SX-117/HT-44 were the smallest Halli twins but they were not that compact (if you use the Kenwood 599 or Drake 4 line twins for comparison). Like the Drake line, the Halli transmitter requires an external power supply. The Kenwood T-599 is truly compact and has the supply built in; if it only covered 160 like the matching receiver it would be near perfect.

The Halli twins do perform pretty well and the matching HT-45 linear amp is very compact-if you ignore the large external power supply :)

I have a Yaesu FR-50B/FL-50B pair about to go on the bench for testing. These are pretty compact, so compact the transmitter doesn't contain a VFO. Like my Trio JR-310/TX-310 the transmitter has to either transceive from the receiver or use an external VFO. I doubt if I will ever find the matching Yaesu external VFO.

Didnt Halli come out with a pair of decent performing and compact twins?
Kenwood also had a pair.
