[Boatanchors] Drake 2B General Coverage

I agree. I had a 2B and Q multiplier/speaker console some years back.
It made me think of a pimped up Knightkit. Certainly not in line with
all other Drake gear I've had. Couldn't wait to get it out of my
house.
One thing that made no sense was its performance. It was one of the
hottest little receivers I'd ever used. Incredible performance really,
for the low-quality-look and feel it has. And I guess at the end of
the day, that's what counts. A fellow out west was happy to take it
off my hands and I was glad to see it go.
Not sure it would even rise to the 'canoe anchor' category, but if you
have limited space and want a lot of performance from a small black
hole, it'd be tough to beat. Clearly the technical dept had their act
together more than the aesthetics group.

Awhile ago I came up with a cheap solution. Find an old crystal deck from an R-390A. It already contains most crystal to get all 3-15 meg coverage. And if you carefully mount it above the receiver, with a very short lead you can use the band switch on the crystal deck to select the desired crystal into the 2B."
