I agree with Bill, that the Drake 2B with the Q multiplier is one great
receiver. Someone else  mentioned an interest in getting it into some SWL
frequencies. Two problems here, the first is the cost of crystals. Used
rocks are going for 10-20 each. It doesn't take much math to figure the cost
of crystals could >than the cost of the receiver. Second problem is there is
only  space for only a couple of extras. Awhile ago I came up with a cheap
solution. Find an old crystal deck from an R-390A. It already contains most
crystal to get all 3-15 meg coverage. And if you carefully mount it above
the receiver, with a very short lead you can use the band switch on the
crystal deck to select the desired crystal into the 2B.
