In my estimation, the 2B coupled with the 2BQ is an excellent receiver.  Mine was the first boatanchor I purchased in 1990 at Dayton and it has been in constant use since.  I have done nothing to it and it remains a sensitive, selective and stable receiver which is a joy to use.  

Every year if I don't venture into the field I fire it up along with my Navigator on 40M for Field Day and have a blast.  the 2B handles the herd in fine style and I have no trouble making QSOs under very crowded band conditions.

It isn't a 75A-4 but it isn't too far behind in performance (and didn't cost me nearly as much!!)
