Unfortunately, the Post Office will NOT accept magazines as media mail. It has to do with the advertising in them even though the ads may be 50, or more, years old.
I got caught by this a little while back trying to send some issues of Popular Electronics from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
Post Office clerks are now required to ask what is in the package and if you say "magazines", they will not be accepted. Also, the Post Office is now inspecting a large number of media mail packages to make sure that the contents are appropriate. If the contents do not meet the standards then the package is usually returned to the sender. In some cases, a postal inspector will also contact the sender.
I don't agree with this, but, unfortunately, regulations are regulations!

I have a large collection of QST starting in 1940. I need to move them out. years are 1940 thru about 1960 sometime. All years are tied into bundles so they go as a complete year. I think they could go as media mail but not sure. That would be my first choice and then Parcel post as a 2nd option. No takers they will go into the big recycle bin.
