Well I have to confess that a comment from Bob W9RAN got me thinking
again about that QSO with W6AM so I looked at the card and I realized
it had to have been when I was at Ft. Gordon GA because it was dated
in Oct. 1977, so that was just before shipping out to HL9 land. I
recall using my Ten Tec Triton 2 and the MARS station quad when I was
stationed there, so that nixes the T60 on that one.
But I also looked at the KH6IJ QSL just now and that one had to have
been with the T60 because it was in June 1975 and I was a broke high
school kid (or just graduated) with a random length wire from a
transformer hanging out over a cow pasture in Mississippi about 10
feet off the ground. That's a testament to Nose's operating skill.
The sig. report on the card is 559. He was probably being a bit
charitable.
At the risk of raising the blood pressure of S-Line collectors, the
MARS station had one or two complete S Lines, but I found the Triton
more fun to operate.
Carl you are lucky to have met him.
