** Opinion **
Rather than use relatively scarce really old tubes for things like scout
projects, why not use more modern, common parts?
Years ago I almost puked when a load of Tektronix scopes went to a "trade
school" for kids to learn how to use a soldering iron.
UTTER WASTE!
