I am blessed or cursed with having HF within walking distance. One day
I walked past their dumpster and it had about 20 of those meters plus
a few of the yellow ones. Took sometime playing with a few of them,
all problems were from poor assembly.
Except for a few things I only buy from HF under the condition that is
is disposable, or the last thing was a couple brushes for painting the
basement concrete walls. The most expensive item was a rotary hammer
drill, I had to knock down a fireplace faced with just over 750
bricks. If the thing made
it though that one job, it would have been less then the rent on a 'real' one.
The quality of the fasteners seems to vary a lot, screws w/o treads etc.
Either way a fun place to stop in while walking the dog.

The company also has shrink tubing kits, plastic tie wraps and small machine screw and nut kits. The soldering iron they sell is priced cheap but is not long lived. American irons are way better.
