The problem is the expense of the AX9909 tubes.  I converted my Globe Champion 350A to use 5894 tubes which, when the 2 halves are put in parallel, have basically the same specifications as the AX9909 tubes.  You do have to rewire the sockets and add a plate connector, but, the results are excellent.  Takes about an hour to make the modification.

I saw a picture of one of these and got a yen to get one. Now, I may be nuts, since I have a Viking II now.
 
Any thoughts on major issues with the 350A ? Am I nuts wanting one ? I expect they are a lot rarer than the Viking II.
