If the bulb fits in a socket and is about the size of a #47 (#44, #49,
#1850, etc) lamp. it is a NE51. If it is about 1/4" in diameter, and
has a pointed bulb with wire leads (no socket), it is a NE2. If it is
about 1/2" in diameter, fits in a socket, and had "D" shaped electrodes,
it is probably a NE-48. All of these are designed for 120V service,
connected directly across the line while using a series resistor in the
47k to 150K range. Don't forget the resistor - the lamp will draw way
too much current and likely explode if the resistor is omitted. If it
isn't one of these, let me know and I will look up some other
possibilities.

In looking at it internally i see that it has 99 v across it but one lead right at the glass envelope was broken. It looks like a small xmas tree light. No manual and i can't read any markings on it. Anyone know what type neon-lamp it might be. Tuning is noce and smooth anyway. Haven't tried it to see what kind of signal it puts out but it also has a "sweep" capability as well. Down in the lower right corner there is an RCA (why not) jack for external mod. Small package. Anyone have a manual for it also?
