[Boatanchors] OT CFLs

I finished my new house and moved in the end of December. It was a
treat to choose new light fixtures and illuminations sources. In the
garage the electrician furnished 4' florescent fixtures that uses two
bulbs. In the house we had to choose florescent fixtures for several
places because, guess what, they don't make fixtures that use
incandescent bulbs that fit the location and decor my wife chose.

Working in the garage , I rolled my HRO 60 out and plugged it in with a
short piece of wire to play while I assembled my tower legs and the
noise was unbelievable. When I have the receiver on the upper BC
frequencies that the F coil tunes there are buzzies all up the band to
2.0 meg. but I can hear stations that register S 5 on the meter near
1500 Kc. On the lower part of the BC band from .5 to 950 Kc the buzzies
are so bad that even the strongest stations suffer enough interference
that I can't hear them with the piece of wire.

Gentlemen we have been screwed by GE and the government. I heard that
the current house has proposed to reverse the ban on incandescent bulbs.
I sure hope they are successful because in this period of time I have
had to replace two bulbs already and my new house is full of them. LED
is a choice but the price of replacement bulbs is terrific. I'm just a
poor boy.
