Related to this is that his partner, Al Kahn, K4FW, eventually sold EV
and moved to Sevierville, TN to found TEN TEC corp, which was
built on property across the street from the EV factory, which
Al purchased from EV. All TenTec microphones accompanying their
radios were bought from EV. Al lived into his late 90s and passed
last year.
The duo also bought RME (Radio Mfr Engineers) after WW2 and produced
ham gear until 1962 when they sold RME to GC (General Cement - solvents, etc)
which closed the operation by 1963.
Interesting how two fellas kept up to three major companies going, two of
which remain.
