Brian:

I have both D104 & EV664 and like both, both altho I tend to use NEITHER
with modern or boatanchor gear, preferring a broadcast or stage mic into a
mixer and modest EQ and audio chain. That aside, which D-104...ie with or
without the electronics in the base? Which mic element (there have been
several over its lifetime)? The original D104 crystal element has a very
crispy response, not much low end. The 664 tends to have a lot more low end.
Both can be good, but it depends on the rig they're modulating.

In the late 50's and early 60's the 664's were commonly paired with Collins
& Hallicrafters equipment of the day, and were considered a rather premier
microphone. While there's lots more mic competition today, the 664's still
sound pretty good, are versatile with impedance, and they have great
styling.

Both 664 and D104 are good mics, and since you seem to like collecting them
(TWENTY D104's?!?) you should hold onto that 664. Not too long ago 664's
were selling on the used market for >$200....with the bad economy, they can
commonly be found now for under $100.

Good luck with your new toy!
