Aspirin is not herbal, even though it sprang from what
could be termed "herbal" origins. I don't remember the
exact source but it might have been willow bark that was
chewed by people in older times to relieve pains.
Aspirin was first synthesized (and named, IIRC) by the
Bayer (pronounced buyer) chemical company in Germany.
