Amen.  Exactly.  People do NOT value truth or facts;
they value being accepted into a herd.  And they will pour money
 down a rat hole and lie to themselves to join the communal delusion
as long as they can look at each other and say:
"We, who are in-the-know, are so very, very special, aren't we?"
Works the same with "modern art" and clothing fashion 
and dozens of other confidence rackets; 
 people will do anything to be part of an "elite," 
even if it's based on pure nonsense.
And proving that it's nonsense
 will only get you tarred by the "elites."
