The BS-8 is designed to be used with IF 8830 KHz and allows the SM-220 to
be used as a panadapter for receive signals. It doesn't make a good
spectrum analyzer. The SM-220 vertical input (response 2 Hz to 10 MHz)
can be used to monitor the IF output/detector output for eye-candy type
output. However, I always use the RF monitoring section to monitor my RF
output going to the antenna. It will not tell you if you're generating
spurious signals.
