[Boatanchors] AF-67 Question

I'm working on an AF-67, and while the
transmitter as a whole is working, the
crystal/VFO switch is frozen.

At first glance, it looks like getting
into the VFO assembly could be a real
nightmare, is this true?

Any hints or tips on working on the
VFO assembly?
