[Boatanchors] OT: How did they "record" TV in the old days?

One of the few shows, if not the only one, that was recorded directly in
film was I Love Lucy, which was always filmed with three cameras; not TV
cameras and a kinescope.   They used movie cameras, edited the film and
broadcast with a film chain machine.  This is one reason why I Love Lucy is
one of the few shows from the early 1950s that has been in continuous
re-runs all over the world ever since--the very high quality video as a
result of filming the show.  Lucille Ball may have acted like a dummy in the
show but in real life she really knew what she was doing in television.
